Meet Dr Matthew Budoff and Our Instructors
Dr Matthew Budoff MD (Harbor UCLA) assembled our faculty from the most accomplished and qualified Cardiac CTA instructors, heart surgeons and radiologists. Our faculty have authored literally hundreds of peer reviews, articles, book chapters and books on cardiac and peripheral vascular CT angiography and pathology, as well as cardiac CTA training competencies . Endorsed by the SCCT, all cardiac CTA training courses are ACC / AHA / ACR compliant.

Dr. Matthew J. Budoff MD
Dr. Matthew J. Budoff M.D., FACC, FAHA, FSCCT, serves as Amery Medical Academy's Chairman of the Advisory Board and CTA Instructor. Dr. Budoff is a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and he is the Director of Cardiac CTA at Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Budoff is a graduate of the University of California at Riverside and received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as his cardiology fellowship, at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Budoff is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. He is the immediate past-President of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention (SAI-P) and President-Elect for the founding Board Member of the Society of Cardiovascular CT (SCCT). Previously, he served as chair of: the ACC/AHA Competency document for cardiac CTA and MRA; the COCATS 2 – CT Section (ACC training for fellows); as well as a recent AHA Scientific Statement on Cardiac CTA; and is an author of the Guidelines for Use of CT for Calcium Assessment and the competency guidelines for peripheral CTA and MRA. He has edited 3 textbooks on Cardiac CT. He is on the board of both the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association for Southern California.
Dr. Budoff has conducted extensive research over the last 19 years using cardiac CTA to identify those patients at high-risk for cardiac events, progression of coronary calcium, and non-invasive CT angiography. He has published over 250 articles, book chapters and books on these topics.

Dr. George M. Hedayat MD
Dr. George M. Hedayat M.D., FACC, serves as Amery Medical Academy's Advisory Board Member, CTA Instructor and National Medical Director. Dr. Hedayat has 38 years of Cardiology practice experience, including clinical, invasive, Echo, Ultrasound, Nuclear, Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CTA disciplines in succession. Dr. Hedayat is an active member of SCCT.

Dr. Hedayat is board certified in internal medicine, Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. Also, Level 3 Cardiac MRI eligible and Level 3 Cardiac CTA certified.

Dr. John A. Rumberger, Ph.D., M.D., FACC
John A. Rumberger, Ph.D., M.D., FACC, serves as Amery Medical Academy's Advisory Board Member and CTA Instructor. Dr. Rumberger is recognized as the world's leading authority on cardiac and vascular imaging using EBT and CT Scanning. During his over 20 year career as a clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Rumberger has published nearly 500 scientific papers and book chapters. He has lectured worldwide on EBT, early disease diagnosis, and wellness. He is an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association and a Founding Member of the International Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging. Dr Rumberger is an active Reviewer for the Journal of the American Medical Association, Archives of Internal Medicine, publications of both the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr. Rumberger has been Professor of Medicine and Consultant in the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. It was during this time that his reputation as a leader in the development and application of computed tomography (EBT) of the heart was established. He has published extensively and continues to lecture and train other physicians in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Dr. Rumberger received his doctorate in engineering from The Ohio State University in 1976 and graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at The Ohio State University Hospitals, and completed a cardiovascular diseases fellowship and early faculty development at the University of Iowa. Also, Dr. Rumberger was the Medical Director of HealthWISE in Dublin, Ohio.

Dr. David A. Fein M.D.
Dr. David A. Fein M.D., serves as Amery Medical Academy's Advisory Board Member and CTA Instructor. As the Founder of the Princeton Longevity Center, Dr. David Fein practiced general Internal Medicine in Morristown, NJ for 16 years. Dr. Fein has traveled extensively to research the latest medical advances to incorporate them into the Princeton Longevity Center. Dr Fein is a Founding Member of the Society for Cardiovascular CT. Dr Fein lectures and teaches extensively in Cardiac CT and has authored book chapters on Cardiac Imaging. Dr. Fein has had direct experience in acquisition and interpretation of over 10,000 cardiac imaging studies and been teaching CT Angiography since 2005. Dr. Fein is certified by the Certification Board of Cardiac CT and is a contributor to the annual CBCCT Certification Exam.
Dr. Fein is on the Attending Staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, Dr. Fein received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Fein completed his residency training at Bellevue Hospital- New York University Medical Center and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy MD
Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy M.D. serves as one of Amery Medical Academy's Advisory Board Members, hosts many of the Cardiac CTA training programs and serves as the Medical Director of the Center For New Medicine in Irvine, California. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas, Houston, TX, Dr. Connealy went on to further her medical education at institutions such as:

Dr. Connealy has achieved numerous awards, including Dean's List, Department Award in Biology and Classics at the Univ. of St. Thomas and the President's Physical Fitness Award. Connealy is licensed in California, Preceptor for Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants and has been affiliated with Chapman Medical Center and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.

Dr. Rine Nakanishi, M.D.
Dr. Rine Nakanishi, M.D., serves as Amery Medical Academy's Cardiac CTA Instructor at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Nakanishi's area of expertise is in the field of Cardiac CT Angiography.
Dr. Nakanishi is a graduate from Toho University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan and received her medical degree. Dr. Nakanishi completed her internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as her cardiology fellowship, at Toho University Medical Center. She also completed a Cardiac imaging fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Suguru Matsumoto, M.D.
Dr. Suguru Matsumoto, M.D., serves as Amery Medical Academy's Cardiac CTA Instructor at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Matsumoto's area of expertise is in the field of Cardiac CT Angiography, Heart failure, Cardiac Catheterization and Echocardiology.
Dr. Matsumoto is a graduate from Jyuntendo University in Tokyo, Japan and received his medical degree. Dr, Matsumoto completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as his cardiology fellowship, at Jyuntendo Shizuoka Hospital, Shizuoka and Tokyo Women Medical University, respectfully. Also, Dr. Matsumoto has worked as a cardiology staff consultant at Tama Hokubu Medical Center in Tokyo. Dr. Matsumoto is a Cardiac CT Angiography Fellow at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, mentored by Dr. Matthew J. Budoff, MD.

Dr. Anas Alani, M.D.
Dr. Anas Alani, M.D., serves as Amery Medical Academy's Cardiac CTA Instructor at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Alani's area of expertise is in the field of Cardiac CT Angiography.
Dr. Alani is a graduate of Al-Nahrian University and Medical College in Baghdad, Iraq. Dr Alani completed his Internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University's Detroit Medical Center, Michigan, USA. Dr. Alani is a Cardiac CT Angiography Fellow at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, mentored by Dr. Matthew J. Budoff, MD.

Dr. Mohit Gupta M.D., ABIM
Dr. Mohit Gupta M.D., ABIM, serves as Amery Medical Academy's Advisory Board Member and CTA Instructor. He is a Cardiac CT Angiography Fellow at Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Gupta's area of expertise is in the field of Cardiac CTA. He has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications and has authored and co-authored book chapters related to cardiac CTA. Dr. Gupta has presented scientific abstracts of his research findings at conferences nationwide and is a reviewer for several esteemed journals.
Dr. Gupta is a graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine – St. Peters University Hospital, NJ. He then joined a Cardiac CTA Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, being mentored by Matthew J. Budoff, MD. Dr. Gupta is board certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine.
